Something on the lines of Social Networking & Education/Learning.
Meta Search Concept -
Just like MetaSearchEngines like together many many search engines, and provide efficient searhing without really having a database of their own,
We could make a software that could link all the social networking sites (Orkut, Hi5, etc.) and like people from different communities together.
Limitations:
1) Not sure we can access profiles of people on different communities.
2) Where does Education come into the picture?
So basically, we can use the Meta Search concept.
MS-Office like Software for the disabled. User mentions his/her disability and the software adapts itself to suit thir needs.
Eg.
a) Weak vision: Magnifier, Screen properties autoset and reset
b) Speech impairment: Presentations which read themselves, Speech trainers
c) Dyslexia: Spelling corrections
d) Physical handicap: Speech processing
e) Visually challenged: Auto reading of documents, Dictation taking
f) Language blocks: Help u learn in a different language
FM broadcasting of a channel, devoted to education!
Pros:
Applies to rural areas
All you need is a radio
Cons:
One-way communication
And here's the first name idea-
ESPOIR- its French for HOPE
Okay..
The project's going to revolve around INTERNET RADIO. Read it up! Also read about SHOUTCASTS.
Relation to education-
Setting up a local Internet Radion Station for a University, etc.
Remember-
Dont restrict yourselves to only Teachers-Students!
ASSUME THAT WE'RE ABLE TO SET UP A RADIO CHANNEL AND BROADCAST. NOW, THINK OF SCENARIOS IN WHICH THIS CAN BE APPLICABLE.
p.s- And plz, no more classroom-related ideas!
Easy enough, eh?
Features so far
1)Easy setup by simply signing in like an orkut account
2)Audio, Video (Live and Canned) relay, Desktop shots too.
3) Multiple streams together. Eg Many videos be seen of the same place.
4)Categorize listeners in groups where only listeners of specefic group can listen to specefic video, audio in the archives.
Ideas to xtend on project ???X??? (come up with a name)
1) Remote exams
The desktop and live video relay mean that flying squads dont have to come to each college.
2) Live Tours of exotic museums and zoos to students who cant afford to be there physically
Eg A live tour of IUCAA by a scientist himself
3) Xtend the range of audience to Live lectures by renowned speakers
4) Demonstrations of Do-it-yourself courses.
Eg amateur reporting, Travel Show hosting, Setting up your PC from a scratch
5) Relay an event of interest to the group interested in it.
Eg Solar Eclipse, Rare botanical finds etc.
